Some of the nations colleges and universities are now implementing new security measures to protect students living off campus. The measure is designed to give students studying late a safe option to get from study hall or the library to their off campus apartment or house.
In a program at DePaul University students can call and connect directly to a security officer on duty to get a ride from to their off-campus residence. Pickup is limited to a few locations and the home or apartment has to be within reasonable boundaries from the university.
This and other programs like it are a great step toward protecting students that are not living on campus.
